MDG Carreras is a small town on the south side of Irapuato, Dominican Republic. This is where Irapuato beach is situated and the town is not very big with only about 4 thousand inhabitants. There are also some other small settlements on the coast but the largest towns in the area are San Ignacio and San Juan del Carmen.
The people in MDG Carreras do not have a lot of money and they live very simple lives. They cook their own food and eat what they can catch for themselves. When you go to the market, they bring just enough to last them for a week at that. They do not buy much from anyone and only buy what they need to survive. This is a very poor community and they are not very successful. The people here are very poor but they live in hope and dream. People here want to be a part of the larger community in Irapuato and have a good job in San Juan.
This is a very interesting story of a small community growing up around the MDG Carreras port. They are slowly starting to become a large community with more than fifty people living here. One of the reasons why this community is becoming very successful is because of the local fisherman who live in this area. They work very hard in the winter to catch enough fish for everyone to eat. This is a great example of how life in the middle of nowhere can be a lot of fun.
